As I type this I'm sitting at 61% of the patch complete with estimated 6 hours togo. No firewall trouble and all ports open it's just been downloading @ 50-60KB/s since patch was available.

turn off peer to peer sharing if thats enabled.

Turn off p2p, enable the top option (forget its name). You should get closer to 500-1k/sec
